TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - After a week off from competition, the Alabama women's track and field team returns to action this weekend at the Meyo Invitational. The University of Notre Dame will be hosting the meet on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 5-6 at the Loftus Center on the Notre Dame campus.
The Tide currently has two student-athletes who have met NCAA qualifying marks this season. Krystle Schade holds the eighth-best mark in the high jump in the nation with a leap of 5-11 1/2. Schade led the conference with that mark up until Jan. 30 when LSU's Brittani Carter cleared a height of 6-0 3/4.
Kim Laing is the other member of the team that has a provisional mark. Her time of 8.40 in the 60m hurdles led the SEC until last week as well when Auburn's Krystal Bodie posted a time of 8.35.
Among the SEC's best athletes sit five Alabama athletes. The already mentioned Schade and Laing rank second in their respective events. Also ranking in the top eight performers in the conference are Audra Frimpong (60m hurdles, 8th), Chealsea Taylor (high jump, 4th) and Wilamena Hopkins (shot put, 7th).
