TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The women's basketball heads to Fayetteville, Ark. for one of its final two road games of the season when it takes on Arkansas Sunday, Feb. 21, in Bud Walton Arena. The game is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. (CST) and will air live on Cox Sports Television.
"The Arkansas game at home was a good test for us at the time, and I think this one will be the same," said head coach Wendell Hudson. "We had just beaten Florida and even though we didn't beat Tennessee the other night, we played well. The key for us Sunday is going to be the way we come out with our mental concentration."
In the earlier matchup this season, the Razorbacks edged the Crimson Tide 66-62 in overtime. Alabama overcame an 11-point deficit in the second half, but came up just short in the contest. Junior Tierney Jenkins collected her eighth double-double of the season that game with 18 points and 14 rebounds.
Last time out, the Tide had fifth-ranked Tennessee on the ropes but ultimately fell to the Lady Volunteers 74-67 on Thursday. Freshman Celiscia Farmer, making her first career start, notched a game-high and career-best 21 points in addition to four rebounds, two assists and two blocks. Sophomore Ericka Russell also scored in double figures for Alabama finishing the game with 12 points.
Arkansas enters Sunday's contest on a three-game winning streak with victories against Auburn, South Carolina and Mississippi. The Razorbacks are led by sophomores Lyndsay Harris, Ashley Daniels and C'eira Ricketts. Harris is Arkansas' top-producer averaging 12.9 points per game, while Daniels adds a team-best 6.4 rebounds and Ricketts a team-high 4.0 assists per outing. Daniels and Harris each contributed 16 points in the win over the Rebels on Thursday.
The Razorbacks have won four in a row in the series against the Tide and lead the overall count 15-11. Alabama's last win against Arkansas came on Jan. 15, 2006, by a score of 75-73, however the Tide hasn't won in Fayetteville since Jan. 10, 2002, where Alabama came out on top 84-70.
