Head Coach Wendell Hudson
Opening statement:
"Alabama A&M is a very good team. Sometimes people make the mistake of looking at the front of the shirt and say, 'I'm not going to play today,' and then lose one. They did a great job of scoring when they had opportunities. We did a good job of getting to the ball today. They had 25 turnovers, and we had 24 offensive rebounds. The stat sheet said we had six fast-break points. We missed too many opportunities in transition. I don't want to take anything away from (Alabama A&M) though because they did what they needed to do to keep the game physical. We jumped out to a 12-point lead and you could see on our faces that this game was over, but it was not."
On how tough it was to stay focused before the team breaks for the holidays:
"It was a tough game. Any time you play that game right before break, especially when a team is learning the identity of how to win, which this team is, it is tough. Alabama A&M played awfully well. There were some positives today like our free throw shooting. I thought physically we played well, but mentally we struggled."
#23 Ericka Russell, Guard
On the atmosphere of the game with the fifth graders in the audience:
"It was fun having a whole bunch of people here. It meant a lot to us having the fifth graders here since we go out and do community service with them. Having them here cheering and singing helped us pull out the win."
