TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alabama junior goalkeeper Justine Bernier (Oakville, Ontario, Canada) was named to the NSCAA/Performance Subaru All-South Region first-team as announced Thursday. Bernier becomes just the second Crimson Tide player named to the first team in school history.
"Justine has earned the respect of her peers and opposing coaches during her entire career at Alabama," head coach Todd Bramble said. "We are fortunate to have her another year. While she is truly a difference maker in our program, it is her humble approach and strong work ethic that will ensure she will continue to develop even further while she is at Alabama."
Bernier earns the honor on the heels of a 2010 campaign in which she garnered Southeastern Conference first-team accolades. The goalkeeper also becomes the first Alabama all-region selection since 1998.
The junior broke the Alabama all-time shutout and save record by totaling five clean sheets and 77 saves. She sported a 1.09 goals against average and an .828 save percentage. During conference play she tallied three shutouts and made 63 stops.
