TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Alabama football team returned to Tuscaloosa Thursday to begin preparations for the Capital One Bowl against No. 9 Michigan State. The Crimson Tide opened with a two-hour practice in full pads at the Hank Crisp Indoor Facility.
"Michigan State has a really good team," head coach Nick Saban said. "Any time you get 11 wins I think you have a good team. They have tremendous resiliency, they've come back in a lot of games and found ways to win."
The Crimson Tide defense will attempt to contain the Spartans sophomore running back Edwin Baker who ranked third in the Big Ten and 21st in the nation in yards per game, racking up 98.5 per contest. Baker's 13 rushing touchdowns were good enough for fourth best in the Big Ten this year.
Alabama will face off against the Big Ten Co-Champions in the 65th Capital One Bowl on New Year's Day at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Fla. The game is scheduled for a noon (CST) kickoff and will be nationally televised on ESPN with Brad Nessler and Todd Blackledge calling the action from the booth and Holly Rowe reporting from the sidelines.
