BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Sophomore outside hitter Kayla Fitterer earned All-Southeastern Conference Second Team honors, as announced by the league office on Monday. She becomes the 18th player in Crimson Tide history to be recognized by the conference.
Fitterer had a stellar sophomore campaign for Alabama as she led the SEC in kills per set with 3.92 in league play. She was named SEC Player of the Week following a 34-kill, 24-dig performance in the Tide's five-set win over Kentucky on Nov. 7. Fitterer's 34 kills were the highest of the season in a match of all SEC teams and the most by an Alabama player since 2004.
The Edwardsville, Ill. native racked up 11 double-doubles this season, nine of which came against a league opponent. She started all 30 matches for the Tide and led the team in kills on 17 occasions.
