ALABAMA-AUBURN SERIES: With the Auburn victory over Alabama, Alabama holds a 40-34-1 lead in the series. The Tigers own a 7-1 edge in the series in Tuscaloosa and a 5-1 record at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
HOME WINNING STREAK ENDS: Auburn's 28-27 victory over Alabama ended a streak of 20 consecutive victories for the Crimson Tide at Bryant-Denny Stadium dating back to the home opener against Tulane in 2008. That streak tied for the second-longest streak in school history at Bryant-Denny Stadium, originally set from Nov. 1, 1941, to Nov. 11, 1950. The longest winning streak at Bryant-Denny Stadium is 57 games from Oct. 26, 1963, to Nov. 13, 1982. During the recent 20-game streak, the Crimson Tide went 11-0 against SEC competition, 9-0 against non-conference opponents and 5-0 against top 25 teams.
DEFENSE HOLDS AUBURN OFFENSE TO SEASON LOWS: Alabama's defense limited the explosive Auburn offense to season lows for total offense and rushing yards in the 28-27 loss. The Crimson Tide held the Tigers to 108 rushing yards (previous low: 190 at Mississippi State) and 324 total yards (previous low: 348 vs. Mississippi State).
UPSHAW LEADS DEFENSE: Junior linebacker Courtney Upshaw led Alabama's defense against Auburn with a stellar outing. Upshaw garnered 10 total tackles (seven solos) including three quarterback sacks and three tackles for loss. He also forced two fumbles and had a quarterback hurry. Defensive back DeMarcus Milliner had nine tackles, linebacker C.J. Mosley added six stops and five other Alabama defenders were credited with four tackles each.
NEWTON'S TD RUN 1ST ALLOWED AT HOME BY ALABAMA IN 2010: Cam Newton's 1-yard touchdown run with 4:25 left in the third quarter is the first rushing touchdown allowed by Alabama at home this season and the first since LSU's Stevan Ridley scored on a 8-yard run on Nov. 7, 2009. It was only the second rushing touchdown allowed by the Alabama defense at home since the start of the 2008 season.
JONES HAS LONGEST CATCH OF SEASON: Julio Jones took a Greg McElroy pass 68 yards for a touchdown to give Alabama a 14-0 lead over Auburn with 8:39 remaining in the first quarter. That play was the longest catch by Jones this season. In the first quarter, Jones had five catches for 108 yards and a touchdown.
JONES SETS SINGLE-SEASON RECORDS FOR CATCHES AND YARDS: Julio Jones set the Alabama single-season record for receptions with an 11-yard catch with 7:06 left in the first quarter, giving Jones 68 catches. That broke the record of 67 catches previously set Freddie Milons in 1999. He finished the first half with seven catches for 174 yards and one touchdown, giving him the Alabama single-season mark for both catches (75) and receiving yards (1,059).
