
Women's Basketball Hosts Central Arkansas in Sunday Matinee

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The women's basketball team (1-0) returns to action Sunday, Nov. 14, when it hosts the University of Central Arkansas (1-0) at 2 p.m. CT in Coleman Coliseum. The Crimson Tide will be looking to start the season 2-0 for the first time since 2004.
Last time out, Alabama cruised to an 82-55 win over Tennessee State that saw all 13 Tide players in action. Junior Ericka Russell scored a game-best 18 points, while senior Tierney Jenkins notched the 24th double-double of her career with 12 points and 15 rebounds. Alabama's up-tempo style of play helped it to force 36 Lady Tiger turnovers. In addition, the Tide outscored Tennessee State 42-16 in the paint.
Central Arkansas also won its season opener with a 93-66 victory over Hendrix. The Sugar Bears exploded in the second half scoring 54 points in the final 20 minutes. Central Arkansas was led statistically by sophomore Megan Herbert, who notched a double-double with 24 points and 14 rebounds. She was 12-of-13 from the free throw line.
Sunday's game will be the first meeting between the two schools. Alabama will be facing a member of the Southland Conference for the 31st time in program history where the Tide owns a 25-5 advantage.
Season tickets for the regular season are on sale for $40 for general public and $25 for staff and faculty at the University of Alabama. Single-game tickets are on sale at the cost of $5 for adults and $3 for youth 18 and under.
