
Women's Track Concludes Stay at Niswonger Invitational

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - The Alabama women's track and field team concluded their stay at the Niswonger Invitational Saturday at ETSU/MSHA Athletic Center.
Senior Kim Laing posted her second consecutive provisional mark in as many weeks in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.41, finishing second.
Alabama had two athletes in the 200m dash final and were led by seniors Heather Matherson placing fourth and Talaya Owens finishing sixth with times of 24.95 and 25.31, respectively.
Owens picked up a third place finish in the 400m finals with a time of 56.49.
In the long jump, Audra Frimpong notched a fifth-place finish with her leap of 18-7 1/4.
Sophomore Megan Williams nearly set a personal best in her first 3,000m race of the indoor season, running a time of 10:45.89 to place eighth.
The Crimson Tide grabbed yet another top-10 finish as Matherson placed sixth in the 60m dash finals with a time of 7.74.
"I think for the second weekend in a row, we had a really good meet," head coach Sandy Fowler said. "I'm excited to see what happens in a few weeks as we get ready for the SEC Championships. Everybody's doing really well. They're running fast, jumping high and throwing far."
The women will take a week off from the action in preparation for the Meyo Invitational being held on Feb. 5-6 in South Bend, Ind.
