TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Alabama men's track and field team will be traveling to Fayetteville, Ark., this weekend for the Razorback Invitational. The meet, featuring five teams ranked in the top 25 according to USTFCCCA, will be held at the Randal Tyson Track Center on Jan. 22-23.
Ray Jadusingh opened his senior campaign last week with a new career-best time of 6.69 in the 60m dash. His NCAA provisional qualifying time not only ranks as the fastest in the SEC, but it is the third-fastest time in the country right now.
Also earning a provisional mark at the season opener was sophomore Tyler Campbell in the high jump. His SEC-leading leap of 7-0 1/4 is the 11th-best jump in the country at this point of the season. Redshirt freshman Mike Edwards just missed the provisional height last week as the last height he cleared was 6-10 1/4 so he will be looking to improve on that at Arkansas. Edwards is currently ranked fourth in the conference.
Sophomore Aaron Stockstell, holder of the third-best 800m time in indoor school history, will compete in his first 800m race of the season on Saturday.
The 4x400m relay team, after having some misfortune at Kentucky last week where they dropped the baton, will be looking for a provisional mark this weekend on the typically fast Razorback track.
The ranked teams competing will be led by host-school and No. 5 Arkansas. Following the Hogs are No. 6 Oklahoma, No. 11 Baylor, No. 19 Georgia and No. 21 Oklahoma St. From the SEC, Mississippi and Vanderbilt join Alabama and Arkansas.
The Invitational is slated to begin at 11:30 a.m. on Friday with the heptathlon before select field events begin at 4:00 p.m. and running events start at 6:00 p.m. Fans can follow the action on arkansasrazorbacks.com which will be providing live statistics as well as a live stream.
