TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Alabama baseball team ranked 10th nationally in attendance last season, averaging 4,010 fans per game to Sewell-Thomas Stadium, the NCAA announced Tuesday. The Crimson Tide drew 116,294 fans in 29 home dates, the fewest number of home dates for the Crimson Tide in the last 20 years.
The Crimson Tide posted a 26-6 home record last season, which included three double headers. The Tide was 10-10 on the road and 1-5 in neutral-site games in 2009.
Alabama's top-10 ranking in attendance last season was the school's 11th top-10 ranking in the last 12 years. The Crimson Tide finished second nationally in attendance in 2000, 2001 and 2002, averaging more than 5,000 fans per game. In 2000, Alabama set a school attendance record with 211,331 fans and 6,216 per game average as the team sold out every home game at the Joe.
"Alabama baseball fans have been very loyal throughout the years," Alabama head baseball coach Mitch Gaspard said. "We appreciate the past support and encourage everyone to support this year's team. We have worked hard in the offseason and are excited about what lies ahead for this year's team at the Joe."
