TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Alabama soccer team invited local youth from the YMCA for a clinic Monday at the Alabama Soccer Stadium. Nearly 150 participants showed up ranging from the ages of 4-12. Head coach Todd Bramble and Alabama players spent over two hours with the kids at the clinic.
"There are many activities our staff and team enjoy doing in the community, but I get the greatest amount of satisfaction seeing all those young kids playing soccer on our beautiful stadium field with big smiles on their faces," Bramble said. "The Alabama soccer player's energy and enthusiasm was contagious and really set the tone for everyone to have a great time."
The clinic started out with approximately 50 4-7 year olds and over 100 8-12 year olds in the late session. The clinic included circuits, passing and dribbling drills. Big Al made an appearance and put on a goalkeeper clinic.
Former Tide standout Nellie Barnes was at the event. Barnes had three of her four children in attendance. The former defender is a coach at the YMCA and is the former coach of Shelton State.
