
Women's Shuttle Hurdle Relay Ranked No. 1 in Nation

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The 53rd Annual Relay Rankings by Track and Field News were released in the October edition of the magazine. The Alabama women's shuttle hurdle relay is ranked as the No. 1 shuttle hurdle relay in the nation for 2009.
"I am very proud of this achievement. We have a tremendous young team and this is a real indicator of where our program is headed. Our student-athletes really improve and reach their athletic and academic goals. It is a great time to Roll With The Tide!!!"
The relay team consisting of members including Kim Laing, Rachel Robbs, Audra Frimpong and Talaya Owens won at the Alabama Relays as well as the Drake Relays with times of 56.30 and 55.91, respectively. All four members return for the 2010 season.
Laing competed at the 2009 NCAA Outdoor Championships in the 100m hurdles and ranks fifth in Alabama school history with her time of 13.28. Frimpong garnered All-Mideast Region honors last season and holds a personal best time of 13.56 in the event ranking eighth in school history. Owens boasts a time of 13.47 ranking sixth in the all-time records at Alabama. Robbs was also a qualifier for the 2009 NCAA Outdoor Championships in the heptathlon and has the third best mark in the multi event in school history.
