TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - University of Alabama head women's soccer coach Todd Bramble announced Wednesday that he has hired Jason Lowe of Emory University (Atlanta, Ga.) as an assistant coach. The hiring of Lowe completes the staff as the Crimson Tide prepare for the 2009 campaign, the second under the leadership of Bramble.
"Jason brings a broad range of experience from which our program will benefit," Bramble said. "Certainly our goalkeepers will continue to improve through his training, but his abilities aren't just limited to that area. He has a great mind for the game, is passionate and is a tremendous addition to the university community."
"I want to thank head coach Todd Bramble and the athletic department for giving me this unbelievable opportunity," Lowe said. "I am honored and excited to become a part of a university with such a prestigious athletics history. After hearing his vision for Alabama soccer and seeing the first class resources that the athletic department has put in place for the program, I knew I wanted to be a part of what he and assistant coach Tatum Clowney were building here in Tuscaloosa."
Lowe concluded his second season with the Emory women's soccer program as the team's goalkeeper coach. Under his direction Lowe guided first-year starter Sarah Wilkinson to a NSCAA/ ADIDAS All-South Region selection. Wilkerson's 0.544 overall GAA was the 23rd-lowest in Division III in 2008, and the eighth-lowest single season average in school history. Her 16 wins (16-4-1 overall record) are the second highest single season total in school history, and Wilkerson's nine shutouts during the campaign are the third-most. Wilkerson was also named to the all-University Athletic Association (UAA) First Team.
During his first season with the Eagles, he helped senior goalkeeper Emily Fedeles to achieve First Team All-UAA honors, an eighth-ranking nationally in goals against average (0.33) and a tenth-national ranking in Save Percentage (0.894).
Jason has served as the Director of Goalkeeping for Tophat Soccer Club since 2006. In that time the club's goalkeepers have lead their respective teams to 4 Georgia State Championships, two Region III Premier League Championships and 7 appearances at the 2007 Southern Regional Championships. This past summer Jason was the head coach of the Tophat 07 Gold (U19) team that won the Georgia State Championship and reached the Regional Finals. In addition, Jason is currently the head coach of the Tophat 13 Gold (U14) and 09 Navy (U19) teams.
Jason began coaching with the Twin City Youth Soccer Association in 2002 where he coached the 88, 86, and 85 Lady Twins in addition to training the club's goalkeepers. He then moved to Connecticut where he was a staff coach with the Connecticut Football Club and coached the U12, U13 and U14 CFC Wolves until he moved to Atlanta in 2005.
Jason graduated in 1998 from Wake Forest University with a degree in business and was a goalkeeper on the men's soccer team. He returned to Winston-Salem in 2000 and earned his MBA at the Babcock Graduate School of Management in 2002.
