Alabama-Mississippi State Baseball Game Suspended in 6th Inning

STARKVILLE, Miss. - The college baseball game between No. 22 Alabama and Mississippi State was suspended in the top of the sixth inning with MSU leading 7-3 and the game will be completed on Sunday, May 3 at 12 p.m. (CDT).
Mississippi State held a 7-3 lead when the game was delayed at 8:25 p.m. The game was finally suspended at 9:05 p.m.
The game will be completed on Sunday as a nine-inning game. Sunday's regularly scheduled game will now be a seven-inning game and will be played 30 minutes following the conclusion of the suspended game.
The Bulldogs scored all seven runs in the first inning off UA lefty Del Howell. Senior left fielder Jason Nappi, a native of Mountain Brook, Ala., highlighted the inning with a three-run double. Howell, who did not record an out until the 29th pitch of the inning, threw 45 pitches in the first inning.
Alabama had taken a 2-0 lead in the top of the first on sophomore second baseman Ross Wilson's RBI double and senior right fielder Kent Matthes' RBI single.
Alabama added another run in the second inning when first baseman Clay Jones and catcher Vin DiFazio reached on back-to-back to singles to put runners on the corners. Jones scored when Alex Kubal reached on a fielder's choice to cut the lead to 7-3.
