Alabama
- Alabama claimed its seventh NCAA Regional Championship on Sunday with a 7-0 Win over the second-seeded Texas Longhorns. It is also the Crimson Tide's fifth consecutive NCAA Regional title.
- The Tide is now 29-9 (.763) in NCAA Regional play and 22-3 (.880) in NCAA Regional game played in Tuscaloosa.
- Alabama set the NCAA record with five double plays against the Longhorns. Tide shortstop Kellie Eubanks snagged a line drive off the bat of Desiree Williams in the sixth inning and quickly flipped to Lauren Parker at second base to force UT's Brittany Barnhill. Parker was involved in all five double plays turned as the first four all went 5-4-3. The previous record was four set on four different occasions.
- Alabama will host a NCAA Super Regional next weekend at the Alabama Softball Complex. The Crimson Tide will host in-state opponent Jacksonville State. JSU beat Tennessee twice in Knoxville on Sunday to advance. Jacksonville State played in the 2008 NCAA Tuscaloosa lost to the Crimson Tide in the championship game. Alabama also is also 1-0 against the Gamecocks this season with a 9-0 win in five innings in the South Alabama Kickoff Classic in Mobile. Alabama is 11-0 all time against the Gamecocks and 2-0 in NCAA postseason play.
- Junior pitcher Charlotte Morgan improved to 17-6 on the season with the complete-game shutout. Morgan allowed seven hits and struck out two, but induced an NCAA-record five double play.
- Alabama had three different pitchers earn a win in the NCAA Tuscaloosa Regional. Amanda Locke earned the win in the opening game over Mississippi Valley State with three innings of work and six strikeouts. Kelsi Dunne captured the win against Texas on Saturday, working a complete-game with eight strikeouts. Morgan finished things off on Sunday with the complete-game shutout.
- The Crimson Tide pitching staff worked 18 innings this weekend and allowed just one earned run for an ERA of 0.39. The UA staff recorded 16 strikeouts and walked just five while inducing five double plays.
- Charlotte Morgan also continued her hot hitting at the plate with a two-run home run in the first inning. It was her 10th home run of the year and RBI 55 and 56. Over the last 18 games, Morgan is hitting .488 (21-for-43) with four home runs and 18 RBI.
- Alabama has now won 17 of their last 18 games.
Texas
- Texas finished the NCAA Tuscaloosa Regional with a 2-2 record,
moving the Horns' all-time NCAA record to 26-20.
- The Horns' win over Mississippi Valley State marked the first meeting
between the two schools.
- Texas' loss to Alabama dropped UT's all-time mark against UA to
2-3.
- Senior first baseman Desiree Williams concluded her career at Texas
as the school's career leader in on-base percentage (.439), games
played (247), games started (243), runs scored (156), home runs (33),
walks (163) and stolen bases (62).
- Williams' hit-by-pitch vs. MVSU was the 176th of her career, adding
to her UT career record.
