TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Alabama football team practiced for two hours on Friday in shells on the artificial turf field at the Thomas-Drew Practice Facility.
It was the Crimson Tide's eighth practice of the spring, which will conclude with the annual A-Day Game at Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday, April 18. A-Day will be televised by ESPN at 2 p.m.
Quarterback Greg McElroy produced a solid showing in his first scrimmage of the spring on Wednesday, throwing for 214 yards and four touchdowns on 22-of-33 passing. On Friday, the Southlake, Texas native was back out on the practice field fighting for the starting quarterback job with Star Jackson and Thomas Darrah.
"I think I have been pleased (with spring practice)," McElroy said following Friday's practice. "I have really worked hard on the things I wanted to improve on. I've tried to be efficient, which was my main goal of the spring, and make good decisions. I think I have done well to this point, obviously, there is room for improvement and there are things that I will be able to continue to improve on throughout the summer and fall camp."
The Crimson Tide will return to the practice field at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 4, at the Thomas-Drew Practice Facility.
