Busy Weekend in Tuscaloosa for the Alabama Crimson Tide

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The University of Alabama is making sure the Tuscaloosa area is hopping this weekend as the Crimson Tide plays hosts to 10 events in a variety of sports. The Alabama baseball, softball, gymnastics, women's tennis and rowing teams are all competing at home this weekend, adding to a jam-packed schedule.
The festivities begin Friday with the baseball and women's tennis teams in action and will conclude Sunday as the softball, baseball and women's tennis teams close things out.
The No. 25 ranked women's tennis team, off to a hot 13-3 start on the season, will participate in two matches this weekend, starting with the No. 13 Tennessee Lady Volunteers on Friday at 3 p.m. before bringing its weekend to a close against No. 2 Georgia on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
The Alabama baseball team looks to rebound after a tough weekend in Gainesville, Fla. as it plays host to the Tennessee Volunteers for a three-game series. The Tide will seek revenge after losing two of three games to the Volunteers last season.
Alabama's up-and-coming rowing team looks to continue its winning ways when it plays host to SMU and North Carolina starting at 8:30 a.m. Saturday on the Black Warrior River. Fans can watch the action from River Road Park East located at the intersection of Jack Warner Parkway and McCorvey Drive.
The No. 4 ranked Crimson Tide softball team hosts Georgia in a three-game series beginning with a double header on Saturday, with first pitch slated at 1:00 p.m. Alabama concludes its weekend series against the Bulldogs Sunday at 1:30 p.m. The team will show honor two senior stars during the weekend with Brittany Rogers Day coming on Saturday and Lauren Parker Day falling on Sunday.
Perhaps the most intriguing event of the weekend is the NCAA Northeast Gymnastics Regional Championships which gets underway Saturday at 6 p.m. The 2009 SEC-Champion Crimson Tide along with five of the nation's top teams will be vying for a spot at the national championships final site. Alabama will be looking to qualify for its 27th consecutive NCAA Championship appearance.
Not all the action is at home. The Alabama men's tennis, men's and women's track and men's golf teams are all competing on the road this weekend and fans can follow the action on RollTide.com.
