SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The Alabama women's track and field team wrapped up competition at the Alex Wilson Invitational hosted by the University of Notre Dame at the Loftus Sports Center. The Crimson Tide had one athlete earn a NCAA provisional qualifying mark at the "last chance" meet on Saturday.
Kimberley Laing tied her career best in the 60 meter hurdle finals leaning across the line a time of 8.32. She finished third in the event with the provisional time.
"For [Kim] to tie her personal best at the end of the season, it's good, it's really good," head coach Sandy Fowler said. "We've been working a lot on the mental side of competition because the team is so young and these girls did a really good job of that here. I think the meet was excellent."
Lynda Cooper and Angelica Howard didn't fare as well in their events as they tried to better their provisional marks from earlier in the season. Cooper cleared 12-8 3/4 in the pole vault and Howard through the shot put a distance of 46-10.
The ladies that have established provisional marks will now await word from the NCAA if they have qualified for the NCAA Championships being held next weekend March 13-14 in College Station, Texas.
