Volleyball Announces 2009 Spring Schedule

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Head Volleyball Coach Judy Green released the team's spring schedule Tuesday. The Crimson Tide will play two of its four events in Tuscaloosa.
"I think we have put together a competitive schedule for the spring," said Green. "It allows us a chance to do some sand competition as well as focus on indoor play. Our goal is to get better each week in certain areas and go into each week improving on particular aspects of our game as a team."
Alabama kicks off the season in Franklin, Tenn. at the Impact Southeast College/Junior Tournament on March 28. There are currently 15 teams committed to taking part in the tournament including Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Lipscomb, Tennessee Tech, Middle Tennessee, Florida, Belmont, UAB, Kentucky, Miami, Western Kentucky, Virginia Tech, Mississippi State, Georgia Tech, and Alabama.
The Tide returns home for a full day of action against Auburn and Mississippi State on April 4 where the three teams will play indoors at the University of Alabama Student Recreation Center followed by an afternoon of play on sand courts at Rock Quarry Elementary School. Alabama then hosts the Bama Spring Tournament on April 10 featuring Middle Tennessee, Memphis, Georgia Southern, West Florida and Jefferson Community College (Mo.). The tournament will also be held at the Student Recreation Center.
The Tide will wrap up its spring slate at the second annual SEC Beach Tournament in Siesta Key, Fla. on April 18. All times are to be announced.
