SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The men's track and field team completed this weekend's competition Saturday at the Meyo Invitational. Tyson David and Emmanuel Bor led the Tide on the track at Notre Dame.
David and Bor finished 1-2 in the Ryan Shay 3,000 meter race turning in times of 7:59.81 and 8:00.69, respectively. Both times were provisional marks for the NCAA Championships and David now sits at No. 5 all-time at Alabama. Andrew Kirwa ran a personal best by nine seconds in the event to finish seventh with a time of 8:11.49.
"Today was certainly full of what we came here for," head coach Harvey Glance said. "We had multiple personal bests and NCAA provisional qualifying performances. We wanted to leave the meet with a lot of outstanding marks and we did just that."
Freshman Aaron Stockstell etched his name into the Alabama record books when he ran the seventh fastest 800m indoor time in school history to finish seventh with a time of 1:51.03.
"For a freshman running as well as Aaron is running is just phenomenal," Glance said. "He's running as well as any freshman in the country and he is a big plus for our program. I believe Aaron has a lot of potential for this year as well as years to come."
In the 200m dash, Ray Jadusingh turned in the 10th best time in school history crossing the line in 21.34 for a third place finish. Brandon Spradley was close behind him in fourth with a time of 21.51. Both times are personal bests.
Matt Watson set a new personal best indoors by nearly one second in the 400m to finish 12th with a time of 47.96.
The 4x400m relay team consisting of Spradley, Jadusingh, Watson and Stockstell set a new season best with a time of 3:12.75 to finish in sixth place.
Tyler Campbell placed ninth in the high jump clearing the bar set at 6-08.75.
Spradley and Jadusingh added to their impressive day with 9-10 finishes in the 60m dash turning in season best times of 6.85 and 6.86, respectively.
Alabama will travel to Seattle, Wash. next weekend to compete at the Husky Classic hosted by the University of Washington.
