LEXINGTON, Ky. - The women's track and field team completed day one of competition Friday at the Rod McCravy Invitational.
"I think, overall, we did pretty well with two personal bests and winning the pole vault," head coach Sandy Fowler said. "I think it's a good jump start for the main part of the meet tomorrow."
The Crimson Tide was led by Lynda Cooper Friday as she claimed the pole vault title clearing the bar set at 12-07.50. Fellow vaulter Katherine Strickland placed seventh 11-07.75.
In the weight throw, Angelica Howard threw a personal best 56-03.00 to finish ninth.
Nicole Okolo also finished ninth in the triple jump with a leap of 37-06.75.
The ladies will continue competition at 10:30 a.m. in the high jump. Track events are scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. with the women's 60m hurdle prelims.
