TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The men's track and field team will travel to South Bend, Ind. to compete at the Meyo Invitational hosted by the University of Notre Dame. The meet will be held at the Loftus Center on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 6-7.
"The Meyo Invitational is always one of the best meets in the country," Glance said. "We'll see some of the top teams in the country. This meet draws a lot of national attention. It's a great facility and it's one of the largest tracks in the country."
The Crimson Tide continues to be led every week by Tyson David in the mile who is currently ranked third in the SEC and 11th nationally with a season best time of 4:03.11.
In the high jump, Tyler Boswell and Tyler Campbell rank as the third and fifth best jumpers with season best clearances of 6-08.75 and 6-08.25, respectively.
"We won't take a big group up there, but the people that we do take, we'll expect some season and personal best and may be even some NCAA qualifying times because it's time to crank it up," head coach Harvey Glance said. "This weekend will show us what we need to work on in getting ready for the championship season as well as where we stand on a national level."
Alabama likes to make the trip up to a meet hosted by Notre Dame at least once during the season if not again for the Alex Wilson Invitational, a last chance meet for athletes still trying to qualify for the NCAA Championships.
"One thing about this meet is that this area is very track knowledgeable," Glance said. "Everybody knows what a good mark is and the announcer is really tuned in to the meet. This meet will have pretty good performances with the great teams and athletes there and I feel we will be a part of that"
The meet will get started with the women's long jump at 5:00 p.m. on Friday with the first running event, the women's 5,000m race, beginning at 6:00 p.m. The athletes will return to action on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. when the women's 3,000m race begins. Saturday afternoon will consists of seeded running events.
