TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Rolltide.com and the Alabama men's track and field team have started a new weekly segment called Nine Questions. Select players and coaches will check in weekly on Rolltide.com and answer questions pertaining to things on and off the field. The 1st edition features freshman Aaron Stockstell.
Rolltide.com: When and why did you get started in the sport of track and field?
Aaron Stockstell: I first started running track in 8th grade. I didn't get serious about running until my sophomore year in high school when I won four state titles.
Rolltide.com: Why did you come to The University of Alabama?
Stockstell: Alabama feels like home! I didn't even go home for Thanksgiving or Christmas break. Tuscaloosa is Iowa City without snow.
Rolltide.com: What are your personal goals and what are the team goals for the season? Career goals for college and further?
Stockstell: My goals are to better not only myself, but my teammates and coaches throughout the season. I also would love to run in the Olympic trials in future years to come.
Rolltide.com: Where's your favorite track meet to compete at and why?
Stockstell: Drake Relays is by far my favorite track meet to compete at. The atmosphere is great. The crowd is into it, the announcer is in to it, and the runners are most definitely into it.
Rolltide.com: What's on your iPod right now?
Stockstell: My iPod is filled with everything, mostly movies. I change the movies from week to week, but keep most of the same songs. I currently have a lot of rap and r&b. The two latest movies are Stand By Me and Snatch.
Rolltide.com: Do you have any superstitions or rituals before your event?
Stockstell: Yes, before every open race, I take a knee before stepping to the line. I simply thank the Lord for letting me see another track meet.
Rolltide.com: Who's the best dancer on the team?
Stockstell: I have to go with Mike Edwards. He brings that Florida style and swagger, but don't sleep on Darion Latson. He holds it down for us Mid-West boys. It's close between the two!
Rolltide.com: Who's the funniest person on the team?
Stockstell: It's a dead even tie between high jumper Tyler Boswell and Long Jumper Paul Wynn.
Rolltide.com: Who's the best dressed on the team?
Stockstell: David Chaplin is always dressed up, but Aaron Stockstell. I have been known to clean up well when the times right.
