
Men's Tennis Climbs to No. 19 in ITA Poll

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - After sweeping Miami and falling to Pepperdine in a 4-3 heartbreaker, the men's tennis team moved up five positions on the most recent Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division I Men's Team Rankings. The Crimson Tide now stands at No. 19 in the third week of dual-match play.
Alabama is currently 3-1 on the season with its only loss being the previously mentioned 4-3 thriller against then-No. 23 Pepperdine. Five Tide players are undefeated in singles play led by senior Michael Jung and junior Saketh Myneni, who are both 3-0 in dual matches.
The Southeastern Conference leads all conferences with six institutions ranked in the top 25 this week. In addition, four members of the SEC make up the top 10 teams in the nation which is also the most of any conference. Georgia is the highest ranked of all SEC institutions at No. 3 followed by Florida at No. 7, Tennessee at No. 8, Ole Miss at No. 9, LSU at No. 16 and Alabama at No. 19.
Team rankings will be released by the ITA on Tuesdays on a weekly basis. Singles and doubles standings are to be published every other week beginning on Feb. 19.
The Tide returns to the court Sunday, Feb. 8 for a doubleheader against instate rivals Samford and No. 75 UAB. Opening serve against the Bulldogs is scheduled for Noon (CST) before Alabama and the Blazers square off at 5:00 p.m. (CST).
