TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alabama head women's track and field coach Sandy Fowler led the Crimson Tide through their 7th week of practice and the Tyson Invitational hosted by the University of Arkansas. The squad saw several members of the team set personal and seasonal bests.
Capri Knox jumped over 40 feet for the first time in the triple jump and is now ranked fourth in the SEC with her mark of 40-02.75.
Sarah Gilmore ran a 17 second personal best in the 3,000m race running a time of 10:11.34.
Sara Vaughn broke the five minute barrier in the mile for the first time crossing the line in 4:58.33.
"We're under two weeks to conference so we're gearing everything towards the SEC meet," Fowler said. "Our training is getting extremely fine tuned so everything will be explosive, quick, and short so it's very similar to competition. It will make a difference come next weekend where they should no longer be feeling heavy, but have that bounce about them heading into SECs."
Alabama will take a few athletes to LSU this weekend, but most will take a week off and train for the SEC Championships being held Feb. 27-March 1 in Lexington, Ky.
