
Alyssa Meuth Selected to All-SEC Volleyball Second Team

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Junior Alyssa Meuth was named to the All-Southeastern Conference Volleyball Second Team which was announced by the league office on Monday. This is the first postseason award for Meuth and seventh in the past five years for the Crimson Tide.
"We are all very proud of Alyssa earning this honor," said head Coach Judy Green. "She had a tremendous year and certainly had the stats to be on this prestigious team."
Meuth finished the 2009 season as Alabama's leader in kills with an average of 3.22 per set overall and 3.53 against SEC opponents ranking her sixth in the league. In addition, her .326 hitting percentage versus league foes is fifth-best in the conference. Meuth, who started in all 28 matches she played in, also tacked on 106 digs, 40 total blocks, 19 service aces and eight assists on the season.
Meuth was the Tide's leader in kills on 17 occasions this season and collected double-digit kills a total of 23 times. Her season, and career, best came twice in 2009 as the Helotes, Texas native collected 18 kills against Jacksonville State on Sept. 5 and again on Sept. 25 versus South Carolina. Meuth also set new career highs in several other categories this season including service aces (four), digs (nine) and blocks (five).
Most recently, Meuth was named to the SEC's Volleyball Community Service Team and was also a member of the Bama Bash All-Tournament Team earlier this season.
