Birmingham, Ala. -
University of Alabama sophomore forward JaMychal Green was honored by the Southeastern Conference men's basketball coaches as a preseason second team all-SEC selection as announced by the league office Monday.
The Montgomery, Ala., native was a unanimous freshman all-SEC selection last season after leading all SEC freshmen and finishing sixth among all players in rebounding with 7.6 per game to complement his 10.3 points per game. Of his seven double-doubles last season six came against SEC competition, the second most in the SEC. He scored in double figures in 10-of-16 SEC games including a career-high 24 points at Arkansas on January 29 and converted on 53.2 percent of his field goal attempts in SEC games.
Green and his teammates will take to the floor against competition for the first time on Wednesday, November 4 at 7:30 p.m., in an exhibition game against Montevallo at Coleman Coliseum. The Crimson Tide will get another exhibition contest under its belt on November 10 against Augusta State before tipping off the regular season on November 14 against Cornell.
