"They really shoot the three well and get out in transition," Grant said. "Their style of play is very similar to us in the press and trying to wreak havoc and force turnovers. We've got to take care of the basketball and do a great job of defending and rebounding."
The Friars are led by junior Marshon Brooks' 17.0 points and 6.7 rebounds per game after he recorded 26 points with seven rebounds and three assists in the win over Mercer on Sunday. In the paint, sophomore Jamine Peterson is averaging a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds per game including a career-high 22 in the Friars' last game. Providence is guided by second-year head coach Keno Davis. The former Drake coach was the 2008 Associate Press Coach of the Year and has a 22-14 record at PC.
In Alabama's 86-69 win over Jackson State on Tuesday, every player that saw action scored with freshman Tony Mitchell leading the way with 23 points on 10-of-14 shooting. Over the first two games of the season, JaMychal Green has been a steady presence under the basket with 15.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. Additionally, Charvez Davis showed glimpses of why he was one of the top shooters in the junior college ranks with five three-pointers on seven attempts against JSU to finish with 16 total points.
