PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. - Sophomore Courtney McLane bowed out of the 2009 Riviera/ITA All-American Championships with a loss in the qualifying round of singles. After falling in the first set 6-2, McLane was able to regroup and take the second frame from Arkansas junior Anouk Tigu 6-4. The Razorback netter came back in the third to take the decisive set by the same decision.
"This was a great, competitive match that was a battle on both sides," said head coach Jenny Mainz. "Courtney left it all on the court. She competed hard, but Tigu just played the big points better. This was a great match for Courtney to get under her belt."
Next on the agenda for the Crimson Tide women's tennis team is the Wilson/ITA Southern Regional Championships being held at Auburn. The tournament will run Friday, Oct. 23 through Monday, Oct. 26.
