WINDERMERE, Fla. - The No. 16 Alabama golf team shot a 11-over-par 299 in the first round of the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational to finish in sixth place, 10 shots off the lead of Stanford.
Sophomore Bud Cauley set the tone for the Tide on the par-72 Isleworth Golf and Country Club, shooting a 3-under-par 69 to leave himself tied for fourth place individually. He is one stroke off the lead after draining six birdies during his round, including four on the back nine.
Sophomore Hunter Hamrick posted a 75 (+3) with two birdies and is tied for 23rd after round one. Redshirt freshman Scott Strohmeyer carded a 76 (+4) to end the day tied for 33rd.
Senior Thomas Huggins is tied for 47th after shooting a 79 (+7), and redshirt freshman Lee Knox is tied for 57th with a round one 80 (+8).
