KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The Alabama divers wasted no time getting right back into the swing of things in the New Year, taking to the boards at the Tennessee Invitational on the University of Tennessee campus this weekend.
Junior All-American Aaron Fleshner won the one-meter board on day one of the competition, putting together a strong performance in both the preliminary round and finals.
"That's as good as I've ever seen him look off the one-meter board," Alabama diving coach Pat Greenwell said. "And what's more, he did it in both prelims and finals. Aaron has had days when he's competed like that off one-meter in one session or the other, but this is the first time he's put together back-to-back performances of that caliber."
Fleshner scored 371.40 points in the finals, beating defending United States one-meter champion Ryan Helms of Tennessee in his home pool. Fleshner scored 372.65 in the prelims.
In the women's three-meter final, sophomore Lauren Dunn finished 10th after scoring 264.55 points.
The Crimson Tide returns to action on Sunday with the men going to the three-meter board and the women taking to the one-meter.
