
Men's Tennis Sends Three to SEC Indoor Championships

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - In its final tournament before the start of dual matches, men's tennis will send three members to take part in the Southeastern Conference Coaches' Indoor Championships held on the University of Kentucky campus in Lexington. Freshmen Ricky Doverspike and Michael Thompson along with junior Houssam Yassine will represent the Crimson Tide at the four-day event.
Doverspike returns to the court for the first time since fall competition where he went 6-3 in singles competition and 8-3 in doubles play. He finished his first collegiate season on a high note having won both his singles and doubles flights at the Crimson Tide Fall Championships. Thompson, the newest member of the team, looks to add to his 2-1 singles record and pick up his first win in doubles against collegiate competition. Yassine enters the tournament having won seven singles matchup thus far in his junior campaign.
Match play begins Friday, Jan. 16 at 9:00 a.m. (EST) with the first round of doubles followed by the first round of singles. The second round of doubles will also be played on Friday. Saturday and Sunday will feature both consolation and main draw doubles and singles before the tournament wraps up with the singles final on Monday.
Alabama will play its first two dual match of the season Saturday, January 24 when the Tide hosts Troy at 10:00 a.m. (CST) followed by Furman at 3:00 p.m. (CST). All matches will take place at the University of Alabama Tennis Stadium.
