TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alabama junior Aaron Fleshner was named Southeastern Conference Diver of the Week it was announced by the SEC Office today.
It marks the second time this season Fleshner has earned the league honor and the sixth time in his career. The Spring, Texas native, earned the honor after winning the one and three-meter boards at the Tennessee Invitational.
"Aaron is doing an outstanding job this season and I think the Tennessee Invitational, against such a large, high-quality field, was his best to this point," Alabama head coach Eric McIlquham said. "There's no doubt that he's put himself squarely in the hunt for a national title."
He finished first out of 44 divers off the one-meter with a score of 371.40 in the finals and 372.65 in the prelims. Off the three-meter board, he was first out of 43 divers with a score of 405.75 in the finals. The All-American is currently ranked No. 1 in the SEC off both the one and three-meter boards.
Fleshner and his Crimson Tide teammates return to action Saturday, facing SEC rival Kentucky in Lexington starting at noon ET.
