
Volleyball Tops Samford in Straight Sets

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The volleyball team beat Samford Friday afternoon in the second match of the Crimson Tide Invitational by scores of 25-21, 25-20 and 25-22. With the win, the Tide ups its season standings to 5-2 while the Bulldogs dip to 6-2. Alabama was led by junior outside hitter Brooks Webster with 15 kills. Sophomore Calli Johnson had a successful outing with seven kills off eight attempts for the Tide. Much of the offense was set up by sophomore setter Lauren Martin who finished the match with 31 assists. Senior Amy Pauly and sophomore Mary Catherine Aune both posted double-digit digs with 11 and 10, respectively.
Alabama will be back in action tonight at 7:00 p.m. (CST) when it takes on South Florida. The Bulls topped Murray State in the opening match of the Crimson Tide Invitational 3-0. Prior to the Tide's match, Samford and Murray state will take the court at 4:30 p.m. (CST). Tickets for all matches will be available at the door.
