
Eleven Swimming and Diving Freshmen Earn SEC Academic Honor

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - A total of 11 members of the Alabama Swimming and Diving teams earned Freshman Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll honors it was announced by the league office today.
From the men's team, Daniel Armstrong, Adam Booher, Catalin Cosma and Daniel Roznick all earned the honor, which requires an athlete to be on scholarship or a letterwinner and earn a 3.0 grade point average or better as a rookie. For the women, Brittany Busch, Lauren Dunn, Baylee Ellson, Kate Gray, Jenna Montgomery, Ida Persson and Paige Troyan all earned the honor.
"To have so many of our freshmen come in here and earn this honor really says something for hard work and drive that goes into academics on this team," head coach Eric McIlquham said. "To excel in both the pool and the classroom takes a lot of drive and determination, especially as a rookie, and I'm pleased and proud of their accomplishments this year."
Overall, The University of Alabama ranked third in the SEC with 56 student-athletes earning the honor. The 11 freshmen honored join the 22 upperclassmen who earned SEC Academic Honor Roll Honors during the spring. During the spring semester 42 members of the swimming and diving team earned a 3.0 or better GPA including 27 who earned better than a 3.5.
