
Swimming and Diving Continues to Excel in the Classroom

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Alabama Swimming and Diving teams enjoyed another outstanding academic semester with 42 student-athletes earning a 3.0 or better grade point average for the spring, including 27 who scored better than a 3.5 and seven who earned a perfect 4.0.
"I'm extremely proud of the job we've done in the classroom this year," head coach Eric McIlquham said. "Everyone on this team knows the importance we as coaches place on academics and they work extremely hard to achieve this kind of result. It is a tradition of excellence that will continue here at Alabama."
This marks the second semester in a row that more than two-dozen members of the Crimson Tide's aquatic squads earned 3.5 GPAs or better.
Freshman Ida Persson, freshman Britney Busch, sophomore Katelyn Davis, junior Kevin Greer, junior Mark Randall, junior Mary-Kate Sellers and senior Kim Singer all earned 4.0s last semester, earning President's List honors. Greer continues to maintain a 4.0 for his career while Busch, Davis and Persson all earned 4.0s for the fall semester as well.
The 19 that earned GPAs between 3.5 and 3.99 were named to the Dean's List, including seniors Austin Shirey and Erin Sparks; juniors Caitlin Anderson and Andy Schnack; sophomores Allyson Angle, Brooke Baldi, Elizabeth Hughes, Kyle Lee, Clint McClendon, Nicole Roberts, Elle St. Charles, Shannon Van Hoy, and Kacey Weddle as well as freshmen Alan Axford, Daniel Armstrong, Adam Booher, Lauren Dunn, Kate Gray, Kelsie Ludolph and Jenna Montgomery. Four swimmers, Armstrong, Gray, Schnack and Weddle, earned 3.9s in the spring.
Among the 15 that earned between a 3.0 to 3.49 GPA were seniors Stephanie Johnson and Mike Jones; juniors Chris Perry and Vanessa Von der Heyde; sophomores Luke Boutwell, Hannah Brinks, Alin Mihalca, Sam Morgan and Julie Richards; freshmen Catalin Cosma, Baylee Ellson, Samantha Lugar, Daniel Rozick, Paige Troyan and Denes Zubcsek.
