DES MOINES, Iowa - Alabama senior Trish Bartholomew passed yet another test to move onto the 400 meter finals. The senior once again took care of business this time in the semifinal round. Bartholomew finished second in her heat to secure an All-American honor on Saturday.
The Grenada native blitzed the final 200 meters to finish second in the first of two heats Friday evening. Bartholomew enters Saturday's final with the third fastest time from the semifinal round. Bartholomew clocked a 52.06.
Eight runners in each event garner All-American accolades. With the final only showcasing eight athletes, Bartholomew claims her second All-American honor of the year. The senior was an All-American in the indoor 400 meters.
Bartholomew will look to claim a national title in the 400 meters tomorrow at 3:05 p.m. Kenyata Coleman and Shana Cox enter the final with the two faster times.
In action yesterday, junior Betty Rotich was in line for an All-American bid in the 10,000 meters but succumbed to injury with just under three laps to go. Rotich did not finish the race.
