
Women's Track Prepares for the Stanford Invitational

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Alabama women's track and field team will head across the country to participate in the Stanford Invitational. The two-day meet will begin on Friday, April 4 at the Cobb Track and Angell Field.
Teams all across the country will be present at the prestigious meet, including athletes from Tennessee, Cal Poly, Washington State, Oklahoma, Cal, USC and UCLA to name a few. The women's 5000 meters will start things off at 8:45 a.m.
The Crimson Tide completed the annual Alabama relays with some impressive marks. Sophomores Kimberley Laing and Talaya Owens hit provisional marks in the 100 hurdles. Laing won the event with a personal best time of 13.51 while Owens finished third with a personal best of 13.69.
Indoor All-American Trish Bartholomew made a cameo in the 200 meters and blistered the oval with a NCAA regional and personal best time of 23.31 to win the event. Bartholomew then came back the next day to once again put a stamp on the 400m with a regional time of 52.97.
The Alabama tandem of Lynda Cooper and Katherine Strickland also stamped their names on NCAA qualifying marks. Strickland placed second with a vault of 12-03.50 while Cooper set a new meet and school record, clearing a height of 12-07.50.
Alabama will continue its outdoor season at the Sea Ray Relays in Knoxville Tenn. The four-day event is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, April 9.
