
Men's Tennis Visits South Carolina and Florida

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The 24th-ranked Alabama men's tennis team heads on the road this week to take on South Carolina and Florida in its last road trip of the Southeastern Conference season. The Tide takes on the 57th-ranked Gamecocks on Friday at 2 p.m. (ET) in Columbia, S.C., before traveling to Gainesville, Fla., to face the 11th-ranked Gators at 1 p.m (ET) on Sunday.
Alabama heads into the weekend 14-8 overall and 4-4 in the SEC after falling to Georgia and Tennessee last weekend. With the losses the Tide fell to third in the SEC Western division. The Tide features two players in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) singles rankings and one tandem in the doubles rankings. Alabama's Mat Thibaudeau leads the team at No. 98, while Saketh Myneni comes in at No. 120. In doubles, the Tide's top tandem of Thibaudeau and Daniel Buikema are ranked 15th nationally.
The Tide leads the series with South Carolina, 17-12, in a series that dates back to 1968. Last year, the Tide posted a 4-1 win in Tuscaloosa. The Gamecocks, 9-9 overall and 1-7 in league play, head into the match after a win over Arkansas last weekend. The Gamecocks are currently last in the SEC's Eastern Division.
Alabama trails the series with Florida, 28-16, after the teams split a pair of matches last year. The Tide beat the Gators, 5-2, during the regular season and dropped a 4-3 decision in the second round of the SEC Tournament. Florida heads into the weekend 11-5 overall and 6-2 in the SEC after splitting matches with LSU and Arkansas last weekend. Senior Greg Ouellette leads the Gators at No. 1 singles with a 20-7 overall ledger, including a 5-3 mark in the SEC.
