
Women's Track Battles Cold Conditions at Drake Relays

DES MOINES, Iowa - The Alabama women's track and field team finished its stay at the prestigious Drake Relays by competing side-by-side with the nation's best. Alabama wrapped up the meet with more impressive times as it takes one step closer to the SEC Championships.
In the relay portion of the meet the Crimson Tide placed fifth overall in the 4x100 relay with a time of 45.85. The Tide earned a seventh place finish in the 4x200 with a time of 1:40.14.
Individually, Betty Rotich placed second overall in the 5000 meters with a finish of 16:41.26. In the 400 hurdles, Talaya Owens broke the 60-second mark with a time of 59.91 to finish sixth overall.
Alabama will compete one last time before the SEC Championships by heading to Oxford, Miss. for the Ole Miss Invitational. The meet is slated to begin on Friday, May 2 at the Ole Miss Track and Field Complex.
