Friday Night Fireworks; Mayberry Day This Weekend

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - It will be an action-packed weekend at Sewell-Thomas Stadium this weekend when the Alabama Crimson Tide hosts arch-rival Auburn in a crucial three-game Southeastern Conference series.
Several special activities planned. The Crimson Tide baseball program welcomes back three teams holding reunions this weekend. The 1961 and 1962 teams will be honored on Friday at the Joe. The National Collegiate Baseball Writer's Association will be on hand for the series opener to present the 2007 Wilbur Snypp Award to long-time baseball publicist Barry Allen. Bo Carter, the NCBWA's Executive Director, and Mike Montoro, the NCBWA's Assistant Director, will be in Tuscaloosa this weekend for the presentation. Following Friday's game, the Crimson Tide will treat fans to a post-game fireworks show.
The 1968 SEC Champions will be honored on Saturday a pre-game ceremony. The 1968 team is celebrating its 40th anniversary this season. The Saturday game will also be "Mayberry Day" at the Joe. Kenneth Junkin is the local president of the "Andy Griffith Show Rerun Watchers Fan Club" and helped organize the event.
The weekend wraps up with "Kids Day" on Sunday as all kids will be allowed to run the bases following the game.
