
Women's Track Heads Back to Tennessee

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Alabama women's track and field team will continue its outdoor season with the Vanderbilt Invitational on Friday and Saturday at the Vanderbilt Track & Field Stadium. The event begins on Friday at 4 p.m. and continues on Saturday, starting at 9:30 a.m.
The meet features a pair of teams from the Southeastern Conference, while several other local schools will be participating in the meet. SEC schools host Vandy and Tennessee will compete at the meet. Also competing is Austin Peay, Belmont, Middle Tennessee State and Tennessee State.
Alabama last competed at the Sea Ray Relays in Knoxville, Tennessee this past weekend, reaching more regional marks. Senior Trish Bartholomew continued her brilliance in the 400m with a 53.60.
Talaya Owens had a great day in the 400m hurdles by hitting a regional mark of 1:00.06. In the javelin throw Meghan Austin threw a personal best and regional mark of 151-06 and placed 2nd overall. The pole vault duo of Lynda Cooper and Katherine Strickland jumped well this week again both vaulting 11-11.75.
Alabama will continue its outdoor slate at the prestigious Drake Relays. The meet that will be held in Des Moines, Iowa will begin on April 25.
