Tide's Matthew Swan is SEC Golfer of the Week

TUSCALOOSA ?? For the third time this week, Matthew Swan’s has won an honor for being a winner on Sunday. Thursday the junior University of Alabama golfer was named the Southeastern Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week. Earlier this week he was named national collegiate player of the week by both Golf World and Golfweek.

The Montgomery native collected his first collegiate victory Sunday when he won the individual championship and helped power Alabama to the team championship with his 12-under-par finish at the Puerto Rico Classic. He finished five shots ahead of Oklahoma State’s Rickie Flower who is rated the top collegiate golfer in the nation in the latest Sagarin/Golfweek individual collegiate rankings. Swan shot 66-71-67 on the par 72 Rio Mar Country Club course in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico. Alabama was playing among of field of 15 teams where seven were nationally ranked.
