NABC Votes Richard Hendrix All-District

TUSCALOOSA ?? The National Association of Basketball Coaches has voted the University of Alabama junior power forward Richard Hendrix to its All-District 6 First Team. Joining the Athens native on the First Team are Jamont Gordon of Mississippi State, Robert Vaden of UAB, Florida’s Nick Calathes and South Alabama’s Demetric Bennett. The All-District 6 Second Team consists of Dewayne Curtis of Ole Miss, Miami’s Jack McClinton, Georgia’s Sundiata Gaines, South Florida’s Kentrell Gransberry and Mississippi State’s Charles Rhodes.
The NABC honored 150 student-athletes from 15 districts. Those named are now eligible for the State Farm Division I All-American teams which will be announced on April 5 during the NABC convention in San Antonio at the 2008 Final Four.
Hendrix is averaging 17.9 points and 10.0 rebounds, the only player in the Southeastern Conference who averages a double double. The 6-foot-9, 250 pound Hendrix had his 15th double double of the season Wednesday night at LSU when he scored 16 points and had 13 rebounds. He was a 2007-08 preseason All-SEC. Last year the basketball coaches voted him Second Team All-District.
