TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The University of Alabama volleyball team hosts Georgia Tech at The CAVE this weekend in the first of four competition dates of the spring campaign. The Tide faces the Jackets Saturday, March 29 at 10:00 a.m. and again at 1:30 p.m.
"Our players have been working very hard in the practice gym and we are ready to be evaluated after playing another team," said Alabama head coach Judy Green. "The spring is a great time to introduce new systems and allow players to play in different roles. Our goals for the spring are simple, get better as each week passes and discover more about ourselves as a team."
The scrimmage against Georgia Tech is the first chance for the newly instated senior class of Lindsey Buteyn and Amy Pauly to lead the Tide. Alabama replaces Bridget Fuentez, Crystal Hudson, Megan Hudson and Brigitte Slack. The foursome completed their reign at the Capstone last season as the most successful senior class in Tide history.
Alabama faces Georgia Tech in two separate competitions throughout the afternoon. The first wave of competition features a controlled scrimmage followed by one set to 25 points. The second wave will resemble a real match with two sets to 25 points and one to 15 points.
Admission to the event is free and open to the public.
