
Kelley Montalvo Named SEC Player of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ?? Alabama junior third baseman Kelley Montalvo (Miami, Fla.) has been named the SEC Player of the Week as announced by the conference office. The award marks the third honor for a Tide player this season from the SEC.
The junior led No. 2 Alabama to a 3-1 week including a 2-1 series win over No. 4 Tennessee to open conference play. Montalvo hit .778, scored nine runs and recorded six RBI in four games. She also recorded a hit and scored a run in all four games, including two doubles, and went 2-for-2 in stolen bases.
Montalvo set a career high with three walks in the win against UAB and then tied career highs for hits (3) and runs scored (3) against Tennessee on Saturday and matched her career high for runs scored again against Tennessee on Sunday.
Kelsi Dunne was named the SEC Freshman of the Week on Feb. 26 while junior Brittany Rogers was named the SEC Player of the Week on the Feb. 19.
Alabama will continue its SEC slate on Wednesday, March 12 with a doubleheader against No. 4 ranked Florida. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. at the Alabama Softball Complex.
