
Men?s Track Heads to the Meyo Invitational

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. ?? The Alabama men's track and field team will head to Notre Dame, Ind. this weekend to compete in the Notre Dame Loftus Sports Center for the 21st annual Meyo Invitational. The two-day competition is set to begin Friday, Feb. 9 at 5:00 p.m., with the conclusion of the meet on Saturday, Feb. 10 with running events set for a 9:30 a.m. start.
"This is moving week for our program," head coach Harvey Glance said. "This is a great facility we are going to with a great atmosphere. It is one of the most electrifying meets of the season so I expect for our team to get some NCAA qualifying marks and some top 10 finishes."
The Meyo Invitational continues to be one of the premiere collegiate track and field meets in the nation. Featured in the meet will be the `Meyo Mile' and some of the top ranked competition in the nation.
Last week at the Rod McCravy Memorial Meet Michael Nichols and Tim Grier secured the top two spots in the long jump. Nichols won his second meet in the last three outings with a leap of 24-04.50 while Grier placed second with a jump of 24-03.75.
In the mile, Andrew Kirwa put together a solid finish with a time of 4:10.26 to finish sixth overall. The Alabama men's 4x400m relay team finished with a season best time of 3:10.65 to place fifth overall.
Alabama will continue its indoor slate at the Washington Husky Classic in Seattle, Wash. The competition will take place on Saturday, Feb. 16 at the Dempsey Indoor Facility.
