TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- WVUA-FM has announced that it will be providing home and away coverage for the University of Alabama Softball team for the 2008 season. This marks the seventh season the station will provide play-by-play coverage of Crimson Tide Softball. Award-winning sportscaster Nic Hoch will call the balls and strikes. This season will also mark the arrival of Mandy Burford in the radio booth to provide color analysis. Burford's playing career ended last year with her senior campaign when she was second on the team in both home runs and RBI.

In addition to Alabama softball, WVUA-FM also provides exclusive coverage of the Alabama gymnastics team on its airwaves.
"As always, it's a tremendous honor to have the opportunity to cover Alabama softball every game," said Hoch. "The fan support of the program has been amazing, as has been displayed by the sellout before a pitch has even been thrown this season. We're also excited to have Mandy Burford in the booth with us this season. Her experience as a player over the past four years will be a great contribution in the radio booth."
The pre-game report will begin fifteen minutes before the start of every game. Alabama begins its season on Friday, Feb. 8 when the Tide plays host to the Hampton Inn Bama Bash. Any questions about WVUA-FM's radio coverage can be directed to Nic Hoch at wvuasports@gmail.com.
