
Wendell Hudson Will Be Live on ESPN2 Thursday Morning

TUSCALOOSA ?? Wendell Hudson, Associate Director of Athletics at the University of Alabama and an All-American basketball player during his Crimson Tide playing career, will be interviewed, live, on national television Thursday.
Hudson will be interviewed on the ESPN2 television show “ESPN First Take,” hosted by Jay Crawford and Dana Jacobson. “ESPN First Take” airs for two hours, beginning at 9 a.m. CT. Hudson’s segment, part of the show’s tribute to Black History Month, will air at 9:50 a.m. CT.
The member of the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame and 1973 Southeastern Conference Player of the Year and All-American was the first black scholarship athlete of any sport at the University of Alabama and one of the first black basketball players in the SEC. He averaged a double double for his career at Alabama with 19.2 points and 12.0 rebounds. Hudson went on to play in the NBA for the Chicago Bulls and in the ABA for the Memphis Tams. A man with a strong background in athletic administration, he left his job as Director of Athletics at McLennan college in Waco Texas, to return to his home state and alma mater. The 1973 Alabama graduate is a Birmingham native and was hired as Alabama’s Associate Athletics Director in September 2003. He was honored by the Southeastern Conference as an SEC Basketball Legend in 2000.
